Nursery Building

The Children’s House is a Montessori day nursery in the village of Stallingborough in North East Lincolnshire. Originally located in a converted barn, the nursery soon outgrew its home.

In 2002, Bramhall Blenkharn Architects was asked to produce an exciting and innovative design for a new-build centre.

Nursery directors Sylvia and Theresa commissioned a design which says ‘we value children and childhood – children deserve quality environments and experiences’. The building comprises light airy rooms for babies, toddlers and pre school children, a kitchen and multi-purpose hall.  Distinctive features include child-height windows, a covered outdoor area and a ‘skycone’ between two base rooms.

The building received an RICS Pro Yorkshire Award in 2005.
